School’s out, the temperature is up, and the official starting date of summer is just around the corner. With more people out and about around the community and the city, the events calendar is packed full of things to do!
Around the Main Line, summertime is known for concerts, art festivals, food festivals, and highly anticipated annual celebrations. Take a look at the can’t-miss Main Line events this summer, and mark a few down on you calendar!
Wayne Music Festival
When: Saturday, June 8th
Where: North Wayne and West Avenues
What: The Wayne Music Festival brings in more than 10,000 attendees each year to listen to live music, browse local vendors, and ring in summertime in Wayne. This year, the headliners include The Wailers, Marah, and Mutlu, and there will be over 75 vendors and local restaurants on-site. Additionally, this year’s festival will be raising money through the Music is Love Foundation for pediatric medical causes.
19th State Street Blues Stroll
When: June 15th, 6pm – 1:15am
Where: State Street, Media
What: Part of the America’s Music Festival series, the State Street Blues Stroll’s theme this year is “The Women of the Blues,” with special guest and headliner Marcia Ball. The event has a smattering of venues along State Street, and a single ticket purchase gets you admittance to all of them! A portion of the proceeds from the event go towards the Blues Foundation and Media Police Foundation.
Manayunk Arts Festival
When: June 22nd – 23rd
Where: Main Street, Manayunk
What: The Manayunk Arts Festival is one of the biggest outdoor festival in the region, bringing in over 200,000 guests for the two-day celebration. Entry into the festival is totally free, so you can stroll along the street browsing the hundreds of booths from local and national artists, food and drink, and live music.
Wawa Welcome America
When: June 29th – July 4th
Where: Various locations
What: If you can only make it out to one event this summer, the Wawa Welcome America is going to be one of the biggest and best. A celebration of America’s birthday in America’s birthplace, the multi-day festival is full of fireworks, free concerts, special community events, free museum days, free outdoor movie parties, and more!
This year, big names in the music industry like Jennifer Hudson and Meghan Trainor will be performing at the Wawa Welcome America July 4th Concert—the highlight of the festival.
Harriton’s Beekeeping & Honey Festival
When: July 20th, 11am – 1pm
Where: Harriton House, Bryn Mawr
What: Fancy yourself an amateur apiarist? Harriton’s Beekeeping & Honey Festival brings people in from all over the Main Line area to try their hand at apiculture! Put on a beesuit, pay a visit to the hives, and try your hand at extracting some fresh honey. The event is totally free, but be sure to make reservations beforehand.
XpoNential Music Festival
When: July 26th – 28th
Where: Camden Riverfront
What: The XpoNential Music Festival is just across the Deleware River in Camden, but is sponsored by WXPN, Philadelphia’s public radio station. The festival is bringing in major headliners like Hozier, Elvis Costello, Blondie, and the Indigo Girls, and also includes family-friendly activities and food and craft vendors.
